SLMC & WPF to sign MoU

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and the Western People's Front have initiated a dialogue for closer relations between the two parties, the Office of WPF leader Mano Ganeshan said in a statement.

The SLMC and the WPF already work together in a loose alliance with the United National Party in the opposition.

As parties representing Tamil-speaking minorities, both have agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding, the statement said.

At preliminary talks, a two-member committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the draft.

During the talks, the SLMC said that it was willing to participate in the Civil Monitoring Committee’s human rights campaign conducted by the WPF leader as its Convener.
