A Southern Provincial Councillor has ‘hi-jacked’ a van belonging to the Southern Provincial Chief Secretariat.

Though the incident took place on April 30.2008, the Secretariat had failed to take legal action the offender well informed sources said.

A complaint has been made by the driver of the Dolphin van bearing number 61-4435 Anusha Adihetty, to the Deputy Secretary (Finance) of the earlier mentioned institution that the Provincial Council member has hi-jacked the vehicle.

The driver said that the Deputy Secretary has failed even to lodge a complaint at the police to this effect.

Chairman of the Accounts Committee of the Southern Provincial Council Nalin Hewage said the same Provincial Councillor had hijacked a Pajero bearing number 32-1422 belonging to the same institution and returned the vehicle after using it for 14 months.

Hewage warned if the authorities at the Chief Secretary’s office fail to take legal action against the Provincial Councillor he will lodge a complaint himself with the police.
