Special parliament group assigned to discuss the 17th amendment of the constitution
posted by Editor at 11:04 PMA special parliament group assigned to discuss the 17th amendment of the constitution prepared the document which consist the groups recommendations.
The chairman of the parliament select committee minister Dew Gunasekara the document with recommendations is prepared based on the discussions made during the 15 sittings held in the past. Minister further said the document will be presented to the parliament ones it is signed the all the members of the committee. The next sitting of the group will be held this Wednesday. It is expected that all the members of the committee will sigh the recommended document on that day.
Minister Dew Gunasekara further stated that all sectors who are interested in forming the constitutional council should help to implement these recommendations successfully. It is reported an agreement is not reached as yet among small political parties representing the parliament in selecting the members to the constitutional council. As a result the council could not function actively. Therefore parliament select committee recommended some proposals to solve this issue.
