Sri Lanka Foundation of Los Angeles has invited Sri Lankan students round the world to attend the first World Youth Expatriate Conference “YES” 2008 scheduled for August 16 to 24, 2008 at University of Los Angeles (UCLA) campus. YES 2008 would promote a closer relationship between Sri Lankan students living all over the world by developing a network with each other to share knowledge and foster collaboration. More importantly, the conference will help students understand their cultural roots and encourage efforts to volunteer their abilities to develop Sri Lanka.

There will be workshops on career development, entrepreneurship, leadership, education, team building, helping Sri Lanka and the duty of youth towards protecting and conserving resources on earth.

There will be special presentations to learn about Sri Lankan history, music and drama.

It is estimated that nearly a million Sri Lankan families live abroad. Over 100,000 youth study in many campuses abroad while those attending elementary and high schools are estimated at over 100,000. The young Sri Lankans entering the threshold of life would get an opportunity to connect with each other in a very meaningful manner. YES 2008 will open doors for them to pursue their carriers with confidence.

The Sri Lanka Foundation head-quartered in Los Angeles has become the conduit for Sri Lankan youth to seek a purposeful link with the ancient heritage of the country.
