Troops capture LTTE’s 54 base
posted by Editor at 8:13 AMTroops in a fierce battle on Thursday night captured the LTTE’s 54 base in Chiraddikulam on the Vavuniya front.
Later the Army recovered 25 dead bodies (all male) inside the camp.
Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said "LTTE’s Charles Anthony Brigade had been based here,"
The bodies recovered would be handed over to the Vavuniya hospital by the Army.
Troops had also recovered 16 T-56 assault rifles, seven RPGs, one LMG, Two GPMC’s , three radio sets, and a large amount of ammunition and AP mines, he said.
