UNP boycott EPC inaugural sessions

The inaugural session of the eastern provincial council was held at the provincial council office in Trincomalee. The session was started under the leadership of Chief minister Shivaneshanthurai Chandrakantha at 10’0 clock on Wednesday morning.
Provincial councilor for Trincomallee K.M. Fais has been elected as chairman of the provincial council. Provincial councilor M.K.D. S. Gunawardene has appointed as the vice chairman.
Both members are from the UPFA. Chief government whip of the provincial council is Hasan Maoulavi. The members of JVP and Tamil Political party were participated at the session.
Meanwhile selected candidates for the EPC took their oaths before the Opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe at a simple function held in Colombo.
Fifteen selected candidates including SLMCers attended the ceremony, UNP sources said.
The UNP boycotted the inaugural session of the EPC .
