Abandoned bag found with Kilinochchi address
posted by Editor at 2:44 AMTHOOTHUKUDI: A donation slip book bearing a Kilinochchi address in Sri Lanka was found with other items like camera, video cassettes, Rs. 25,000 in cash and two film rolls in a bag and was seized by the police, here on Thursday.
The bag was found abandoned near the Thoondigai Vinayagar Temple in Tiruchendur by a daily wage labourer. Local police took custody of the bag on Thursday.
Kilinochchi houses the headquarters of the LTTE and the book contained the address, "Society Upliftment Centre, Headquarters, Kanagapuram, Killinochchi."
Today, a Q Branch team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Antony Gnanasekaran and a team from the Special Branch arrived in Tiruchendur for investigation.
DSP, Tiruchendur N. Samydurai Velu said the recording in the video cassettes was not suspicious in nature since it was of a family function and the New Year celebration. Police suspect that the bag could have been left at the spot either by some Sri Lankan tourist or supporters of the LTTE.
