Appointing Arjuna 'a mistake' - Lokuge

Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge says appointing Arjuna Ranatunga as chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket Interim Committee was ‘a serious mistake’.
Minister Gamini Lokuge told BBC Sandeshaya that appointing Ranatunga as the head of SLC while he was a parliamentarian was ‘wrong’.
Politicians should not hold positions in sports bodies, the minister added.
The minister was commenting on the recent controversy over appointing former Test captain, Hashan Thilakaratne, as manager for the India's tour of Sri Lanka.

However, in comments to a local media later in the day, Mr. Lokuge denied having said Mr. Ranatunga's appointment a mistake.
He said, his personal view was that persons in political should not be appointed to sports positions.
