August 1 not declared a holiday
posted by Editor at 10:39 AMThe Secretary, Public Administration and Home Affairs, D. Dissanayake yesterday said the Ministry has not received any intimation from the government to declare Friday, August 1 a Public and Bank holiday.
Commenting on the rumour going round that August 1 would be declared a holiday he said there was no such intimation so far.
“If the government intends to declare a Special Bank and Public Holiday, it must be gazetted by the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry. The Labour Ministry makes a request from the private sector to do the same,” Mr. Dissanayake said.
