British HC to close down Defence Division

The British government has decided to close down the Defence Division at its High Commission in Colombo by the end of this year, diplomatic sources said.
No reason has officially been given for the decision.
According to unofficial reports, Sri Lanka's failure to follow defence and political advice given by London has prompted the closure.
The Defence Division has been coordinating training for the armed forces, provision of intelligence and development of the community police service and other services given by the British government.
