posted by Editor at

The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Nishantha Hapuarachchi that the fire arms, accessories of these arms, bullets and other articles recovered from a garbage dump at Pajet Road, Keppetipola Mawatha in Colombo-05 had been dumped there by the inmates of ASP Jayantha Wijesekera’s house.

The CCD produced the items found at the scene before the Chief Magistrate and moved on the instructions of the Government Analyst to examine and report on its findings. They also sought a direction from the Government Analyst to tally the lime and other paint stains that were on the fire arm with the wall scrapings of ASP Wijesekera’s house to ascertain whether they were from the same source.

An Air Force serviceman while conducting a routine search at Keppetipola Mawatha recovered the articles from a garbage dump .An expired copy of the passport of SSP Sarath Baddewela, his family photographs, an SSP’s cap and parts of an uniform belonging to an IP, that were found there, were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigations.

The CCD said they were investigating as to which Department the fire arms belong and moved to send the articles to the Government Analyst for examination and to report back thereafter.

The Chief Magistrate agreeing to the motion ordered the CCD to send the articles to the Government Analyst through SI Dinadhi Bandara and to file a report in court on September 7.
