CM wants more funds for EPC

Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan will move a resolution in the provincial council today asking Rs.5 million for each councillor to carry out development work during this year.

However, the resolution was initially planned to be put forward by JVP councillor Wimal Piyatissa.

Mr. Piyatissa said that the resolution would now be moved by the Chief Minister as an urgent one.

“We planned to bring it earlier. Now, the Chief Minister is going to move it. But, we are not concerned about it,” he said. According to this resolution, the Council seeks Rs. 185 million for all its 37 members to start various programmes in their respective constituencies.
