Employees protest to remove Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman

posted by Editor at

Employees of the Sri Lanka Tourism today took to the road for the first time in history, with placards and banners in hand asking for the removal of Chairman, Renton de Alwis.

Trade Union sources confirming the protest said that employees have lost faith in Chairman, Director General S. Kalaiselvam, and Director Operations Prasanthika Dissanayake.

“Since the day Sri Lanka Tourism was converted into an Authority, they have been reducing the employee privileges while resorting to methods which waste government money in the form of tourism promotion,” sources said.

However, it is also reported that these long standing charges came into limelight after a an employee W. Chandrasiri was asked to settle his dues of 164,000 rupees to the Tourist Sri Lanka Tourism before resigning to contest in the forthcoming Provincial Elections.
