Equipment belonged to a SP and ammunition recovered close to Air Force Commander's residence
posted by Editor at 8:51 AMArmy personnel recovered this morning (05) a bag with arms, ammunition, a cap worn by Assistant Superintendent of Police and a passport belonged to a Superintendent of Police in close proximity to the official residence of the Air Force Commander in Keppetipola Mawatha, Colombo.
There were 90 T-56 ammunition, parts of bore 12 shotguns, one locally produced gun, three empty magazines, one pouch, a cap worn by Assistant Superintendent of Police, an applet and stars worn by chief police inspectors, a photo removed passport expired in 2000 belonged to SSP Sarath Bandara Beddewela, eight photos Mr. Beddewela appeared, 10 numbers of .38 revolver ammunition and a coat jacket, said police spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Ranjith Gunasekara.
The bag was handed over to Cinnamon Gardens police station and later it was sent to Colombo Crime Division for further investigation. Investigations revealed that the passport disappeared a long time ago. SSP Beddewela is currently in the National Defense Intelligence service.
