Explosives found in a slipper

A woman carrying C-4 explosives in a slipper was nabbed at a road block in Medawachchiya on Sunday evening, Police said.

The woman was traveling in a Colombo Medawachchiya bus when her bag was checked at the Kotana road block. She was carrying three pairs of slippers and one of them heavier than the other slippers raising suspicion of the police officer checking her.

A careful examination revelaed that 250 grams of C-4 explosives was hidden in the slipper. She is being detained at the Anuradhapura police.

The woman is a native of Mullaitivu.
