Hospital staffs protest against circular
posted by Editor at 10:45 AMUrging the government to nullify the circular that demanded reason within three days from hospital staff who struck work on July 10th, protests were held in several hospitals this noon (July 14th).
Staff of Colombo National Hospital, Kalubowila Hospital, Kalutara-Nagoda Hospital, as well as leading hospitals in Badulla, Karapitiya, Hambantota, Moneragala, Dambulla, Peradeniya, Kurunegala and Ragama protested today.
Speaking to media, Chairman of the All Ceylon Health Service Union (ACHSU), Gamini Kumarasinghe said that the protest campaign was a success.
He added that unless the government withdraws the circular, they would resort to legal and firm trade union actions.
The ACHSU chairman further said that this circular violates the trade’s unions’ right to strike that is attested by the constitution.
