Journalism Awards on July 22

The ninth annual Journalism Awards ceremony will be held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel on Tuesday July 22 at 7.00 pm. It is jointly organised by the Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Press Institute.

The programme recognizes and honours journalists for their outstanding performance in 2007. Five veteran journalists will also be honoured by the Editors’ Guild with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their long and distinguished service to journalism.

Four awards will be made by the Sri Lanka Press Institute in recognition of Television and Radio journalism.

The organizers have received 294 applications this year.

Eminent lawyer R. K. W. Gunasekera will be the Chief Guest.
