LTTE has not been weakened at all - Nadesan
posted by Editor at 11:05 PMThe LTTE has urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kalaingnar M. Karunanidhi to come forward to assist them in their struggle to establish a Tamil Eelam state. In an interview P.Nadesan, Political Head of the LTTE, said “Karunanidhi should turn into a supporter of our struggle.”
Nadesan was being interviewed by ‘Kumudam,’ a popular Tamil weekly from Chennai. In the interview, Nadesan categorically denied the Tamil Tigers have been weakened, claiming it was a vicious propaganda campaign being put forward by the Sri Lanka Government.
In the interview, Nadesan confessed that more than twenty thousand LTTE cadres had died and many of their commanders too had been killed in the battle against the Sri Lanka Government. He also expressed “regret” that India was providing help to the Sri Lankan Government in this battle. “The 80 million Tamil people living in the World understand the atrocities of the Sinhalese Army and have stopped providing military hardware to Sri Lanka, expect the Indian Government.”
Asked what difference he saw in the way Chandrika Kumaratunge, Ranil Wickeramsinghae and Mahinda Rajapakesa handled the conflict Nadesan said “There is no difference at all. Chandrika and Rajapaksa are both hawks who used to openly expose racial discriminations. Ranil has been identified by the international community as one who loves peace. In fact he is like Jayewardene who is vile and cunning as a fox. He supports the war campaign carried out by Rajapaksa.”
Asked how the LTTE saw Priyanka’s meeting with Nazhini, who has been sentenced for her involvement in the Rajiv Gandhi’s murder case, Nadesan said “We think that Priyanka has gone and met Nazhini without a political agenda, purely on humanitarian grounds”.
