Mawanella killing: Who is telling the truth?

It was reported yesterday that a 19-year-old supporter of a former minister of the Sabaragamuwa PC had been shot dead in the Mawanella police area.
His death was attributed to a clash between supporters of two UPFA candidates contesting the Sabaragamuwa PC. Mawanella police confirmed the killing but rejected the claim that the victim had been involved with the UPFA. "He was definitely not a UPFA supporter," a spokesman said.
According to him, while some people were on the booze, a galkattas (improvised gun) belonging to one of them had gone off accidentally.
