Railway pays funeral expenses

Sri Lanka Railway paid Rs 10,000 to the families of each of the school children who died when the Matara bound express from Anuradhapura "Rajarata Rejina" was derailed at the Thotagamuwa bridge in Hikkaduwa, as funeral expenses.

The money was handed over to the next of kin of the victims at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
