Troops close to Mallavi in Mullaitivu: Military

Government troops have advanced to an area three kilometres south of the Mallavi area in the Mullaitivu district on Thursday killing at least 25 LTTE cadres, military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara said.

He said the Special Forces and the 57 Brigade were involved in capturing the area.

He said that seven bodies of the LTTE had been recovered along with a 120 mm mortar gun, 80 mm mortar, five T 56 weapons and one tractor.
