The company further stated that all liquid milk and yoghurts marketed under the NEWDALE, RATTHI, ANLENE and ANCHOR brands are made with local milk sourced from farmers in Sri Lanka and tested to meet the highest International and local standards including ISO 22000 and HACCP.Fonterra Brands Lanka Managing Director Achyut Reddy said all their products are subjected to rigorous quality controls in every aspect of production from sourcing of raw milk through the manufacturing and distribution process.
“Further reassurance comes from the New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) which has categorically stated that they have confidence in the integrated food safety regulatory and industry controls that are in place in New Zealand from where Fonterra Brands Lanka sources its milk powder,” Fonterra Brands said in a statement.
Mr. Reddy emphasized that the milk contamination issue in China involving 22 dairy companies was confined to products manufactured with China-sourced raw milk and had absolutely no bearing on products marketed by Fonterra in Sri Lanka.
“We view consumer safety and health issues with great seriousness at Fonterra” said Mr. Reddy “and will continue to ensure that our products meet the highest safety and quality standards.”
He thanked the consumers for the great trust and loyalty they have placed in the Fonterra brands over the years and said that Fonterra will continue to always live up to the consumer’s trust and expectations.
