LTTE terrorists in Army uniforms commit violence in Jaffna

Troops patrolling in the Makiyapiddi area in the Jaffna peninsula observed three LTTE cadres clad in Army uniforms around 11 this morning (Jaffna).

When troops asked the suspects who were loitering near a Hindu temple to identify themselves, the suspects lobbed two hand grenades at troops and escaped. During the search operations troops found 2 hand grenades, 3 sets of Army combat uniforms, and a grenade launcher with one round.

A senior defence official in the area speaking to defence.lk said that the motive of the terrorists is to tarnish the good image of the security forces by committing violence against civilians in guise of security forces' personnel.
