Sakvithi scam: Police after lady lawyer and IP
posted by Editor at 9:59 AMThe police investigating into the major financial scam involving English tutor Sakvithi Ranasinghe are now after a lady lawyer and a Police Inspector who have reportedly fled their homes, whilst the staggering amount topped Rs. 700 million by yesterday.
Police Spokesman Ranjith Gunasekara said the Mirihana police completed a recording of 1327 complaints yesterday of individuals who were deceived by the great impostor.
The legal officer of the bogus financial institute, a lady lawyer who was in charge of all monetary agreements between the company and the depositors is currently absconding, the police said.
An inspector attached to the Police Communication Division in Mirihana was found linked to the scam after he had personally removed several computers that were at the office of the financial institute in Nawala soon after the exposure.
He had not reported to work since then and did not obey orders of SSP Nugegoda Division Deshabandu Tennakoon to appear before Mirihana police yesterday.
