Xerox introduces Digital Press to Sri Lanka
posted by Editor at 4:44 AMLumen Technologies announced the launch of the long awaited Digital Press Solutions from Xerox to the Sri Lankan market in order to meet the short run requirements of the local graphics industry (commercial printers, publishers, pre-presses, etc.)
The Digital Press is ideal for producing high-end collateral, direct marketing and photo specialty products, jobs that typically generate the most profits for print providers. It is an addition to Xerox's industry-leading production digital portfolio, following the revolutionary Xerox IGen 3, which led the industry into a new into a new age of digital color printing.
Chief Operating Officer of Lumen Technologies, authorised distributor for Xerox in Sri Lanka, Rukshan Sheriff, said, "Our aim is to offer our customers the best solutions to their business needs. Every high-quality color print that comes off the Digital Press will help set our customers apart from their competition with full color and monochrome high speed digital presses offering benchmark productivity, print quality and economy".
Since color consistency and predictability are critical to customers, repeat jobs will always look the same with the Xerox Digital Press. It also creates offset and photo-quality images with consistent color from the first print to the last. Breakthrough technology with more than 400 new parts and subsystems, as well as new patented technologies, combine to enable the press to generate its high-definition image quality.
Sheriff said that the increase of productivity from 25% to 35% on a Digital Press will be through the automation of operator tasks, such as not needing to stop the machine to replace the developer with the new carrier dispensing system. “By automating operator tasks on a press, the need to stop the press for adjustments is greatly reduced. As a result, overall operating costs decrease and the break-even point improves between digital and traditional offset printing. In fact, it is faster and more economical to print short run jobs on a Digital Press”, he added.
