Colombo stocks slide on Asian fall

Colombo stocks fell on Thursday in line with Asian and US markets where the indices crashed in a continuation of the US financial crisis, brokers said.

They however expected the market to recover in the next few days. Among the main pickings, Dialog fell by 25 cents to Rs 7.75, JKH dropped by Rs 1.50 to close at Rs 74, CIC fell by Rs 2.50 to Rs 35.75 while Maskeliya Plantations saw a stock of 365,200 shares being traded lower by Rs 1.25 to Rs 26.75.

The All Share Index fell by 41.72 points to 1,985.79 while the Milanka dropped by 46.97 points to close at 2,213.28 .
