LTTE face heavy setback in Mullaittivu battles: scores killed, 2 LTTE attack craft damaged

The 55 Division troops positioned South of Chalai have advanced further South during an intense assault launched since yesterday evening (Feb 27), reportedly gaining control over sections of the LTTE built earth bund at Puthumathalan, also seizing 2 LTTE attack craft, military sources from the Mullaittivu battlefront reported.

The 2 LTTE boats have sustained damages due to military artillery attacks the sources said adding that LTTE's boat wing chief Soosai, have commanded the terrorist resistances. According to intercepted LTTE communication, 13 terrorists were killed during the confrontations and many were left wounded. Soosai had operated from an undisclosed location in Puthukkudiyirippu, lambasting at the LTTE ground leaders for failing to stall the military advance. "If they (Army) inch further we are done for ever", he was quoted as saying through intercepted LTTE communication.

Meanwhile, the multi-pronged military surge towards Puthukkudiyirippu town continue with increasing LTTE battlefield loses as troops are now reportedly positioned some 200m from the seizing control over the Puthukkudiyirppu junction, ground sources further reported.
