Slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabakaran's parents, living in a refugee camp in Vavuniya, will not be able to benefit from the government's decision to reunite elderly people with their relatives, PTI reported.
The two will be kept separately to ensure their "safety", it quoted the Sri Lankan military as saying.
"They have admitted to being Prabakaran's parents and we will have to separate them (from their relatives) for their safety," military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said of Prabakaran's parents, 76-year-old Thiruvenkadam and 71-year-old Parvathi Velupillai.
The government has allowed the feeble, injured or elderly sick persons among the displaced to reunite with their families so that they can be taken care of.
