Honorary degrees for President and Defence Secretary |

The University of Colombo is to offer honorary doctorates to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The honorary degrees are in recognition of services rendered by President Rajapaksa in safeguarding the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, restoring peace and harmony among communities, Vice Chancellor, Professor Kshanika Hiriburegama issuing a statement said.
According to the statement, the university senate has decided to confer the degree of doctor of laws (honoris causa) on President Rajapaksa, and a degree of doctor of letters (honoris causa) on Defence Secretary, Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
