Friday, 31 July 2009 13:11

International Monitory Fund stated, 5 percentage of total development in Sri Lanka should be increased by the end of year 2011 and on this condition, the loan was sanctioned by them, to Sri Lanka. Such statement was given by the Chairman of Sri Lankan affairs of International Monitoring Fund to an interview given by him to a media .
The Sri Lankan economy is affected badly due to world financial constraints. In view of economy downfalls, Sri Lanka is in a situation of collapse, hence this loan was sanctioned to rectify the situation which I believe was stated by the Chairman for Sri Lankan Affairs of IMF.

He further stated due to these obstacles, a situation had risen to the government to reduce the transaction of Sri Lankan money value . Hence to resolve this situation, the required loan amount was granted to Sri Lanka.

A questioned was raised, regarding the delay of months in granting the loan to Sri Lanka, the reply was many different countries, requested loan facilities, and their requests were scrutinized, hence there was delay in approving loan to Sri Lanka was mentioned by the Chairman.

In the meantime, the loan amount was granted on the condition, of Sri Lankan National development of 5 percent increase, which should be ascertain. Restrictions were given to refrain from unwanted tax a reduction in the next year government’s financial statement was mentioned by him. The said loan amount which was given more priority should be utilized to the peoples’ development who are in the boarder lines of poverty, is necessary and on this context, according to the Samurthi Project, an assurance should be given to provide relief to the living hood of the poor people in Sri Lanka.
