The EPDP led by Minister Douglas Devananda has decided to contest the parliamentary elections separately, it is learnt.
The Minister’s Media Secretary Nelson Edirisinghe responding to a question raised by the Ravaya newspaper said the Minister had decided to contest the general election separately as the governing party candidate backed by the EPDP during the Presidential election was rejected by the people in the North. He added that the Minister initially decided to resign from his portfolio, but later changed his mind following appeals made by the public.
