Independent polls observers today expressed serious concern over the dismissal of 10 police officers ahead of the forthcoming April eighth Parliamentary Elections. 

“This ongoing trend is disturbing as it is a clear warning to others to toe the line or face similar circumstances”, one observer said.

Some eight Police Inspectors were interdicted and two senior gazetted officers were sent on compulsory leave on orders from the Defence Ministry today on disciplinary grounds.

The latest development comes barely a month after some 50 senior and other police officers were moved out from various divisions throughout the country.

Meanwhile more pre-election violence and other related issues have been reported from several parts of the country mainly by groups within the same party, the observers said.
