The former President’s Office states that the news item published in several newspaper that the President had made telephone call to former President Chandrika Kumaratunge on June 29th, to wish her for her birthday and that he had then had a pleasant conversation with her, were false.

The Office stated that the incumbent President and the former President had not been engaged in any discussions for a long time.

It is learnt that the news item about the telephone conversation between the President and the former President had been released to the media by one of the directors in the Presidential Media Unit, Mahinda
Illepruma.

The Presidential media Unit is currently involved in making false statements that the former President was planning on re-entering politics.
